Our Seven Strands of Resilience model breaks down a complex concept into a series of relatable ideas.
These ideas are embedded in our programme and make learning easy.
It enables you to identify limitations and focus efforts towards creating balanced resilience with amazing results.
Purpose
Purpose recognises that we belong to and serve something bigger than ourselves, as well as providing a motivation that drives us forward. Our purpose helps to shape the mindset and attitude we have toward others and the events we experience. We can find purpose in our faith, family, a political party, or being a part of an organization. It allows us to ask and answer ‘are my skills/gifts/talents aligning with where I am going’.
Connection
This is your family, nature, the social network you have and the way you use them. When we support and care for someone, and they care for us this is termed a positive relationship. One of the most profound experiences we can have in our lives is the connection and positive relationships we have with other human beings. By building positive relationships with others we will be happier and more fulfilled, and feel more supported, supportive, connected and satisfied with our lives.
Self Regulation
This is the ability to monitor and manage your energy states, emotions, thoughts, and behaviors in ways that are acceptable and produce positive results such as well-being, loving relationships, and learning. It resists impulsive behaviors while understanding and expressing one’s own emotions in positive ways. it included self care, which is unique for each person and can be understood in many different ways. Self care is initiated and maintained by us as individuals requiring our active engagement.
Control
Resilient people tend to have what psychologists call an internal locus of control. They believe that the actions they take will affect the outcome of an event. While we may be able to put some blame on external causes, it is important to feel as if we have the power to make choices that will affect our situation, our ability to cope, and our future. Taking ownership of our actions enables us to direct our intentions towards our goals and frame our experiences from the position of authority.
Self Awareness
Who am I relation to self, others, and the environment? It is the ability to control thinking, attention, concentration, focus, reflexivity, and problem-solving. Self Awareness is having a clear perception of your personality, including strengths, weaknesses, thoughts, beliefs, motivation, and emotions. This will in turn allow you to understand other people, how they perceive you, your attitude and your responses to them in the moment.
Optimism
Having confidence in your abilities and judgments, and the ability to interact with life in a positive way. It allows effective function in the world while meeting the multiple challenges of daily life with a sense of energy, vitality, and confidence. Being optimistic allows us to readily see opportunities and align ourselves with our objectives.
